Mango season not living up to expectations

Australia
Thursday 04 September 2008

The first mangoes for the season are being picked in Darwin, but growers who were initially expecting an abundance of fruit after a good early flowering, have been disappointed.

Late flowering didn't produce a good fruit set and many farmers predict the crop will be half the size of last year's.

The mango picking season rolls on to Katherine next month, followed by Kununurra in WA.
