Costa Rica, the second largest exporter of bananas, plans to increase its production in 2011
Costa Rica is the second largest banana exporter after Ecuador.
Corbana, the national organization of banana expected to increase the production next year and should reach 105 million boxes.
This year, the production has reached 100 million boxes, while the crop was affected by heavy rains of the wet season.
In Costa Rica, the plantations spread over 45,595 hectares and employs approximately 34,000 people directly and 85,000 indirectly.
