Mexico ships record avocado volumes to the U.S. for championship season

Strong demand linked to the U.S. football championship period pushes cross-border avocado shipments to an exceptional level.
Mexican avocados posted a record import window into the United States in the four weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, according to APEAM.
Shipments under the Avocados From Mexico programme exceeded 136,000 tonnes in the four weeks leading up to the event — around 20% above the historical average for the same window.
Volumes consisted almost entirely of Hass avocados, supplied through the coordinated grower-packer-exporter chain operating under the binational export programme.
Industry sources linked the surge to favourable weather, steady harvest flows and retail promotion planning aligned with seasonal demand.
Mexico remains the only supplier able to service the U.S. market with year-round commercial volumes, reinforcing its lead position during high-consumption sales periods.
