Fruits & Vegetables consumption continues to erode

Further reduction in the consumption of Fruits & Vegetables in Spain.
For the month of September the consomation of Spanish households fell by 8% for Fruits & Vegetables costs compared to the same month in 2014.
The Spanish consumed about 382.7 million kilos of fruit, most of which have seen their share decline: melons 69.7 million kilos (10%), watermelons 39,7 million kilograms (-27.5%), apples 39.3 million kilos (-2%) and peaches 36.5 million kilos (-4%).
For vegetables, the decline is identical (8%) with a total of 227 million kilos. Again with a sharp decline for the major vegetables (tomato, onion, pepper). Potato consumption remained stable compared to the previous year.
