Morocco, which aims to produce more than 30% more than today, has organized its first event dedicated exclusively to berries at Larache (Tangier region).
This first National Festival of Petits Fruits Rouges (16-19.03) highlighted the dynamics of the sector. This sector has recorded good progress, now producing 268,000 tons, more than half of which is concentrated in the perimeter of the Loukkos (river which has its mouth at Larache).
The sector is still planning further development. A program contract has been concluded between the State and the professional associations concerned which aims to produce an annual output of 360 000 tonnes of red fruits by 2020.
In Morocco, the sector is supervised by two professional associations: AMCEF (Moroccan Association of Strawberry Exporters) and AMPFR (Moroccan Association for the Production of Red Fruits).
