Slight decrease in Mexico's pear production in the campaign 2022/23
VU
Pear production in Mexico is projected to reach 25,600 tons in the campaign 2022/23, which is slightly lower than in the previous season, according to a GAIN report by USDA.
The decrease is explained by lower planted areas due to low investments in technology and infrastructure.
The planted area remains nearly unchanged from the previous season, with some 3,630 hectares.
Puebla and Michoacán remain the largest producing regions, accounting for 73% of total production.
The country’s pear imports are expected at 72,200 tons. Exports are estimated at just 80 tons.
