The cooperative Origin Cevennes at Medfel
FJ | Origine Cévennes SCA
The cooperative of small growers of sweet onions from Cevennes participates in Medfel.
The cooperative Origin Cevennes was created in 1991 by 30 growers of sweet onions. Braving the difficulties of the territory of the Cevennes (small plots of land, dry stone terraces), the cooperative grows with the reputation of its product. The Sweet Onion from Cevennes is the first onion in Europe to benefit from an AOC (controlled designation of origin) since October 2003 and a PDO (protected designation of origin) since July 2008.
With a beautiful pearly skin, it is characterized by a soft texture and a sweet taste. It is eaten both raw and cooked, and contributes to the success of many recipes.
Currently the cooperative has more than 100 members and produces more than 2,300 tons of sweet onions.
