Spain and other countries seeking protection fruit and vegetables before WTO agreements

Spain together with other countries claim that fruit and vegetables are considered "sensitive products" that is subject to a lower liberalization in the negotiations of the World Trade Organization (WTO) for liberalizing world trade.
The agriculture ministers of the EU have reviewed the status of those negotiations within the so-called Doha Round.
The general secretary of Agriculture in office, Josep Puxeu, has affirmed in statements to Efeagro that within the EU there is a group of states, which are included France, Italy and Ireland, calling for "safeguard clauses" against the removal of tariffs claiming other WTO partners. This is a group of at least 14 states that in these discussions calling for greater defense of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The countries of the WTO will hold a ministerial meeting expected the third of May, to try to agree on the objectives of Doha and give a boost to the Round, currently stalled, which began in 2001 to deepen the liberalization of world trade.
Spain also supports the initiative presented today by France to try to boost the food supply in this sense. Puxeu has stated that the goals it has set for the EU biofuel production "does not affect in any way" to the Obtaining food in Europe.
