In 2020, world apple exports reached 13 million tonnes for a turnover of 4.3 billion USD, i.e. -11.3% in volume and -15.6% in value compared to 2019 (Photo: agriland .ie).
After 4 consecutive years of growth, world potato exports in 2020 fell compared to 2019, varying by -11.3% in volume and -15.6% in value
According to Potato Business, which takes up an IndexBox report, world potato exports in 2020 fell to 13 million tonnes, or -11.3% compared to 2019. In terms of value, these potato exports reached 4.3 billion USD, i.e. -15.6% compared to the 5.1 billion USD reached in 2019.
Exports. Together representing a 44% share of world exports in terms of value: the Netherlands (826 million USD), France (684 million USD) and Germany (374 million USD). Follow, together representing a share of 39% of world exports: Canada, China, United States, Egypt, Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain, India, Pakistan and Kazakhstan
Imports. Together representing a 28% share of world imports: Belgium (595 million USD), the Netherlands (345 million USD) and Spain (314 million USD). Next, together representing a 30% share of world imports: the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Portugal, Canada, Malaysia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
In 2020 potato imports decreased in most countries, with the exception of a few which increased the import volumes: Belgium, Spain, United States, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.
The countries with the highest levels of potato consumption per capita in 2020: Belarus (608 kg per person), Belgium (522 kg per person) and Ukraine (474 kg per person).
