Extremely positive forecast for the new campaign in the region Extremadura.
AFRUEX, the association of producers in the Extremadura region, plans for this season, +50% higher production than last year. The production is expected to reach 275 million pounds.
Product quality is considered good and market prospects encouraging. Plum will record the largest increase in production with expected 107,983 tons, or about +208% compared to last year, low production year. The second product in volume is nectarine with an estimated production of 64,802 tons, then the peaches with 59,047 tons projected and cherry with 29,856 tons planned.
The Extremadura region exports 75% of its total production, from which about 15% are intended for non-EU shipments, such as South Africa, India, Singapore and Brazil.
