Italian exports of fruit and vegetables aim again at China, country that presents good new prospects for kiwis, apples, pears and citrus fruits. The minister of Agriculture Paolo de Castro discussed this topic during a technical seminar held together with representatives of the Italian Association of fruit and vegetables' Producers /Exporters ANEIOA and Chinese counterparts.
The meeting had the priority goal of fix a fulfilment calendar as to ease the entry of Italian fresh products into the Chinese market.
Kiwi is one of the main products that producers wish to ship as soon as possible to the Asian market: Italy produces today around 500.000 tons every year, 75% of which is destined to foreign Countries. The Italian potential to China is estimated around 80 million annual tons; similar amounts are forecast for apples too.
