Actual individual consumption (CIE) is an indicator of the level of well-being households materials. Based on estimates for 2017, the CIE per capita expressed in Purchasing Power Standards (PPS) has ranged from 55% to 130% of the EU average for the Member States ( EU).
In 2017, an above-average (100) EU per capita CIE was registered in 10 Member States. The highest level was found in Luxembourg (130), which is 30% above the EU average. Germany (122) and Austria (118) follow. Then, the United Kingdom (114), Finland (113), Belgium (112) and Denmark (112), the Netherlands (110), France (109) and Sweden (109), which registered all levels between 9% and 14% above the EU average.
In 12 Member States, the CIE per capita was between the EU average and 25% below that. In Italy (98), Ireland (94) and Cyprus (92), levels were 10% or less below the EU average, while in Spain (90), Lithuania (88) ), Portugal (83) and the Czech Republic (80) they were between 10% and 20% below. Malta (78), Greece (77), Slovenia (77), Poland (76) and Slovakia (76) were between 20% and 25% below average.
In 6 Member States, the CIE per capita was 30% or more below the EU average. Estonia (72), Latvia (70) and Romania (68) were about 30% below, while Hungary (63) and Croatia (61) had a per capita CIE slightly lower than 40 % to the EU average and Bulgaria (55) was 45% below.
