Russia rejects 49 tons of Turkish grapes

The reason why access to the Russian market has been denied is that Californian adult thrips have been found in the cargo. According to the experts these insects would be carriers of viral diseases and the only way to prevent it is to impede their introduction into the market.

Since the beginning of the year, the Russian quarantine inspection service have blocked the introduction of about 700 tons of fruits and vegetables, mainly from Turkey, but also from Israel and Jordan.
