A US visit helped Chile’s Blueberry Committee review blueberry performance in a key destination.
Chile’s Blueberry Committee has completed a technical tour across the US East Coast to assess the quality and arrival condition of fresh Chilean blueberry shipments.
The delegation visited cold storage sites and distribution facilities in Miami, Orlando and Philadelphia, reviewing handling, storage and logistics processes alongside companies active in the trade. Retail checks were also carried out to evaluate in-store presentation of Chilean fruit versus competing origins.
Teams measured firmness, size, decay incidence, packaging and labelling, while also examining postharvest technologies such as controlled atmosphere systems and packaging formats used to preserve fruit quality.
The committee said the findings will be shared with exporters to fine-tune logistics, postharvest management and market strategies, ensuring Chilean blueberries reach US consumers in optimal condition.
