Peru expands aji chile and guajillo exports in 2025

The United States remains the main destination.
In Peru, exports of aji chile and guajillo increased in 2025 as higher shipment volumes more than offset a decline in average prices.
According to Agrodata, total export value reached US$32.6 million, up from US$24.1 million in 2024. Volumes jumped 74% year on year to 8.14 million kilos, while the average export price fell 22% to US$4.01 per kilo, down from US$5.16.
The data points to a volume-led expansion, with exporters prioritising throughput as pricing pressure intensified.
The United States remained the main destination, accounting for 61% of total FOB value (US$19.9 million). Mexico followed with 22%, while Spain and Ecuador represented 7% and 6%, respectively.
With prices under pressure and volumes rising, 2025 reflects a shift toward scale rather than price strength in the aji chile and guajillo export market.
