The Murcia region has reduced by 40% the use of phytochemical products

Technical days that just took place in Cartagena, had as a theme the tools for integrated management (pheromones, attractants, traps, biological controls). On this occasion, the advisor of agriculture announced that the region of Murcia has reduced by 40% the use of pesticides in crops.

Due to techniques used in recent years, producers of Murcia region are real pioneers, having taken 10 years in advance of the new European regulations on integrated pest management, which will enter into force in January.

During a study made on local products: 98.5% have showed rates far below the legal limits set by the law. This contrasts with the high levels of pesticides detected on products imported from third countries .
