U.S. citrus cooperative partners with National Breast Cancer Foundation

Printable version
Sunkist Growers, Inc., a citrus cooperative with a rich 131-year history, is proud to announce a new partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF). This collaboration underscores Sunkist's ongoing commitment to supporting health and wellness initiatives, particularly in raising awareness about breast cancer and providing crucial resources to those affected.

In this partnership, Sunkist’s popular Cara Cara oranges will play a central role. Throughout the season, Sunkist will release limited-edition pink ribbon packaging for its 2lb, 3lb, and 5lb bags of Cara Cara oranges. This special packaging is part of the broader "Power with The Pink Orange" campaign, designed to engage consumers and encourage contributions to breast cancer awareness. Additionally, Sunkist is rolling out new in-store merchandising materials, including display bins and posters with QR codes that direct consumers to more information about the NBCF partnership on Sunkist's website.

Jim Phillips, President & CEO of Sunkist Growers, Inc., expressed pride in supporting NBCF through this initiative.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Sunkist will launch various initiatives, including social media campaigns featuring influencers and breast cancer survivors, as well as creating patient care packages and sponsoring NBCF's HOPE Kits. These efforts are aimed at spreading vital information about breast cancer awareness, early detection, and available resources.

Sunkist's collaboration with NBCF reflects a broader mission to promote health and wellness. By aligning with NBCF, Sunkist not only supports those affected by breast cancer but also promotes healthy living through the nutritional benefits of Cara Cara oranges. These oranges, known for their vibrant pink interior thanks to the antioxidant lycopene, provide 100% of the daily recommended vitamin C intake and are rich in other essential nutrients like folate, fiber, and potassium.

Cassie Howard, Sr. Director of Category Management and Marketing at Sunkist, emphasized the success of the Cara Cara category, noting that branded Cara volume grew by 35% last year. Howard stressed that the NBCF partnership was a natural extension of their successful 'Meet the Pink Orange' campaign.
