This is an exceptional year for pears in Australia, the best harvest of decade, according to the Director of Victoria Fruit Growers.
The State of Victoria (South Australia) produces 90% of pears in Australia. This year's drought and the rains have not affected their growth and according to producers, this is the best year for pearsfor 12 years.
According to the association, this exceptional year will offer consumers a low price and will boost consumption of pears. The introductory price of this season should be less than 2 dollars a kilo AUS (1.45 €)
A large campaign has started since the beginning of the month in schools, markets and all events like Food and Wine Festival in Melbourne.
