The current season (October 2017 - June 2018) is expected to record a final volume of 2.4 million tonnes of citrus fruit.
This is a slight increase compared to the previous season, which totaled 2.33 million tonnes. ASPAM (Association of Citrus Producers of Morocco) explains this rise by the entry into production of new orchards.
Exports reached 450,000 tonnes in mid-February, almost the same volume as last year at the same time. Exports are expected to total between 650 and 680 000 tonnes at the end of the season. The breakdown by destinations: the European Union (40%), Russia (30 to 35%) and North America (15 to 17%).
