Record after record for the tomato industry in California

Record year for the tomato processing industry in California.

The CTGA annual meeting (California Processing Tomato Growers Association) held in Modeso (California) and released the 2014 results of the sector.

The year 2014 stacks records: production record with 14 million tonnes for 290,000 acres ( 117,358 hectares ) ; performance record with 48.3 tons / acre ; sales record with a volume of 13.9 million tonnes marketed.

The projections for 2015 suggest a similar output of 14 million tons. Initial forecasts of 15 million tonnes would require an additional 20,000 acres of tomatoes.

Only downside , the drought in California and which no one can predict the end .
