Ban on Egyptian's imports of green capsicums and strawberries
MD
Saudi Arabia is likely to ban import of Egyptian green capsicums and strawberries after they found insecticides rates exceeding permissible limits.
Official sources said laboratory tests conducted by the Saudi Agriculture Ministry showed the levels of chemicals in capsicums and strawberries imported from Egypt.
The authorities informed the Egyptian ambassador and the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture of the possible ban on imports for these two products.
Egypt asks Saudi’s test results and wants to impose sanctions against companies that exported products.
This likely ban worries Saudi’s importers of fruit and vegetables and raised fears a rise in prices. Egypt is a major supplier of fruit and vegetables for the country.
