Dubai continues to increase its imports of fresh fruit and vegetables.Since 4 years, the demand has increased by 16% for fruit and 20% for vegetables.
Import of fruit and vegetables continues to experience significant growth in recent years.
From 2008 to 2010, Dubai has increased its imports of fresh fruit and vegetables from 16% to 20%. This increase is due to growth of population and expatriates that have changed and increased demands for fresh produce.
Moreover, Dubai has become a center for re-export to the markets of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Quatar, Oman and Bahrain.
In 2010, Dubai imported more than 1.1 billion kilos of fresh produce and exported 463 million kilos.
