Emerson is an American multinational corporation with 205 locations worldwide. The company creates products and provides engineering services for a wide range of industrial, consumer and commercial markets.
On August 12, Emerson presented the new GO USB Logger suite of products. These programmable and reusable data loggers collect temperature, humidity and time data from perishable products in-transit. Important cold chain information can be viewed and downloaded when a product reaches its destination, helping guarantee the freshest and safest products reach consumers.
Grower, shippers, retailers, third-party logistics companies, foodservice entities and the life sciences industry utilize GO USB loggers to record and view vital cold chain data.
Emerson developed this product to help its customers meet the various requirements for vaccine handling with options to satisfy guidelines of Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Three variations of the product are available in the GO USB Logger suite: the GO USB Temp, GO USB Humidity and GO USB Probe.
GO USB Temp measures ambient temperature, GO USB Humidity measures ambient temperature and humidity, and GO USB Probe measures ambient and probe temperatures. The GO USB Probe can be disconnected and used separately.
GO USB loggers can collect different information such as mean kinetic temperature, average temperature, the lowest and the highest temperatures and humidity, alerts and so on. This data is viewed on LCD (liquid crystal display) and can be collected in an automatically generated PDF report, when the logger is connected to a computer.
The PDF report also provides an audit trail, with time stamps showing events that coincide with when the logger is utilized. Collected data can be also shared among key stakeholders.
Alex Axelsson, product manager, cargo for Emerson’s cold chain business, said that the GO USB Logger suite of products can be easily configured via software. According to Axelsson, with one software for all 3 products, the loggers are flexible enough to be utilized alone or together.
