The slightly cooler weather has favoured a beautiful colour for apples in New Zealand this year, of a slightly smaller caliber.

Pipfruit NZ announces that the color of apples in the area of Hawke's is the best for 20 years. The region produces 10 million cartons of apples for export, or 61% of national production.
For apples having a red colour is
very important, especially for new markets in Asia and this is the objectives of New Zealand apples. The harvest of the variety Royal Gala has ended and the Jazz variety will follow. The apples are a slightly smaller size with a good flavor.
