China needs to import more and more agricultural products to meet the rapid growth in food consumption.
In the next 5 to 10 years China will become the largest importer of agricultural products in the world, according to the analysis of a Chinese research firm.
Causes are the reduction of its agricultural land and lack of productivity and technology. This is the conclusion of a researcher for the Centre for Development Research reports the Beijing Times.
Already the largest importer of soybeans and cotton, China will in the next 10 years to increase its imports from abroad to cope with rapid growth in Chinese food consumption. The researcher did not specify what kind of agricultural products China will import.
