NEPG upgrades its production estimates

NEPG is reviewing its production estimates upwards and anticipates harvesting 28.9 million tonnes of ware potatoes.
The NEPG (North West European Potato Growers) is reviewing its initial estimates and although the entire harvest is not yet finalized, estimates that total production will be around 28.9 million tonnes (gross weight).
NEPG estimated in September (our info 21.09.17) harvest at 27.9 million tons of ware potatoes and now provides a total volume of 28.9 million.
NEPG production is expected to be 17.7% higher than last year, 15.6% above the 5 year average, and slightly higher than the 2014 record crop. It has higher yields in all countries, but also strong variations across regions. The higher yields are combined with the expansion of the surface area (+ 5.9% on average for the NEPG zone) with an increase of 8.8% in Germany.
