The peak heat of September has affected dates and leads to lower exports.
According to professionals, the date harvest 2010 is important but insufficient in quantity and quality due to the peak heat suffered in last September.
Clusters of dates, once picked does not conserve well and looses some of their quality.
The variety Deglet Nour is the most affected.
This situation will cause a decrease in exports which were of 5,000 tons in recent years. In 1995 , a record of 21,000 tons of dates was exported.
