Based in Kenya, the Uchumi chain continues to increase its network and its expansion strategy in East Africa.
Uchima is one of the largest retail chains in Kenya operating 18 supermarkets in the country. As part of its expansion, Uchima continues to increase its outlets in the country and in neighbouring states to consolidate its position as a market leader in the countries of East Africa.
The chain already had two stores
in Uganda and in one in Tanzania, but Uchima has added to this by opening 9 additional outlets in the last 2 months. These new successful additions to the chain are showing strong demand in these countries and have strengthened Uchima in its policy of expansion.
In Kenya, Uchima has added four additional stores and will open a hypermarket in Nairobi. The chain announced that it has tripled its turnover in 5 years.
