Results up for Maersk

The recovery on the rise in shipping containers allowed the Danish group AP Moeller- Maersk to improve results.

AP Moeller- Maersk announced a 30% increase in earnings in the third quarter reached $ 1.465 billion . Profit due to some sales (APM Terminals Virginia in the United States and the activities of Maersk Drilling in Venezuela) but also to a higher profitability (return of 13.5 % against 10.9 % a year earlier).

" This improvement was achieved through lower costs and supported by an increase in average freight rates. According to the contract , Maersk Line has increased its volumes by 3.7 % compared to the third quarter 2013," the company said in a statement.

Turnover was virtually unchanged (+ 0.7 %) to 12.169 billion dollar. AP Moeller- Maersk now expects earnings  around $ 2 billion for 2014.
