Hortifruct plans to increase its production

The organization of Romanian producers HORTIFRUCT plans to increase its production.

Hortifruct - which has sold 36,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables in 2012 - this year has increased its production to 38,000 tons, an increase of 5.5%. The turnover in 2012 was EUR 37 million, 44% of which related to the sale of tomatoes and cucumbers.

About 35% of production in 2013 is intended for export to Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. For the future, Hortifruct has plans to expand to other European markets.

Hortifruct is composed of 7 members: Leoser SA, Berser SA, Leader International SA, Frank ’93 Prod SRL, Ostrovit SA, Lio Agro Com SRL, Ilser Oltenia SRL. The organization manages 170 hectares of greenhouses, 2,000 hectares of vineyards and 500 acres of orchards and field crops.
