India increases by 72% its exports of fruit and vegetables to the Gulf.
The Gulf countries have increased their demand for fruit and vegetables from India, which has become one of their main suppliers.
According to data from Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), exports of fruit and vegetables in India have increased by over 72%.
The APEDA attribute this growth in exports to the geographical proximity to the Gulf, and installation of new storage units in the country.
Leading exports are onions, bananas, walnuts, grapes, mangoes. India produces 40% of world's mangoes, 26% of bananas, 28% of peas and 12% of onions.
