Pakistan exports mangoes worldwide

According to an announcement at FRUIT LOGISTICA, Pakistan will start exporting mangoes by ship in special ripening containers in early 2011. Kashif Hussain Niazi, Marketing Manager of the Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company, adds: "This also means we can now export our Kinnow mandarins to Europe.
The latest tests have confirmed that we can produce seedless fruit". More than 30% of the citrus fruit goes to its neighbouring country Iran, while Russia imports another 20%. The United Arab Emirates alone import 35% of the mangoes. Mr Niazi identified some shortcomings in the food processing sector: "We are hoping to attract foreign investors, because we need more facilities".
