Adriana G. Mendizabal appointed as independent director of important US fresh food supplier

On December 1, 2021, Adriana G. Mendizabal will join the Board of Directors of Calavo Growers, Inc., a global provider of fresh food, as Independent Director. The long-time director Scott Van Der Kar will step down from the board on January 3, 2022.
Since 2019, Mendizabal has been a Group President for Stanley Black & Decker Latin America. Before that position, from 2012 to 2019, she was Business Unit President and Global Chief Marketing & Innovations Officer at Nature’s Sunshine Products. Prior to that she worked at Visa USA, Kodak, Herbalife, Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo-Mexico and Procter & Gamble. CNN’s Expansion Business Magazine named her one of Mexico’s Top 10 most powerful women in business.
From 2008 to 2015, she served at the Bank of New York Mellon’s Mexico subsidiary as an independent director and member of the audit committee. Now she is an executive member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association.
Mendizabal is a graduate of Tecnologico de Estudio Superiores de Monterrey-UEM, and holds a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing.
Steven Hollister, interim Chief Executive Officer of Calavo Growers, commented that this is an extreme fortune for Calavo to have someone of Adriana Mendizabal’s caliber and background.
He also thanked Scott for his 27 years of service and counsel, and for his contributions that have guided Calavo through the years.
After these changes, Calavo’s Board will consist of 11 directors, 7 of whom qualify as independent directors under the Nasdaq Stock Marketindependence standards.
