In England the production of apricots is very recent. Ten years ago production in the Kent region was only 40 tonnes but this year a record harvest is expected.
According to British media, the apricot harvest in England is expected to reach 250 tons this season. Either the largest harvest ever.
Apricots are mainly grown in the Kent region, nicknamed the 'Garden of England', because of its fertile soil and favorable microclimate for cultivation.
This season, the weather conditions have been favorable, with enough rain and sunshine, for good fruit growth and excellent quality.
In England the production of apricots is very recent. It was the development of cultivars specially selected for cooler climates and with later flowering that made English production possible.
