Citrus production will exceed 225,000 tonnes in the Yucatán region.
Prospects are good for citrus harvests in the Yucatán region that plans to supply local, national and international markets.
SAGARPA, the Ministry of Agriculture estimates that the expected harvest could total 139,000 tons of oranges, 83,000 tons of lemons and 4,300 tons of grapefruit.
These citrus fruits will be exported to markets in Europe and Central America for the most part, and to Asia for some. In addition to citrus fruits, the Yucatan region produces and exports tropical fruits (pitahaya, anona ...), the demand for which is growing.
