Vegetarians are more numerous
FJ
Almost 1 Italian from 10 is vegetarian or vegan, according to a study conducted last month.
To celebrate the Vegetarian Festival, which took place early jullet in Gorizia, a large survey was conducted among the Italians. The végatariens and vegans are more numerous, they now reach 9% of the population, while the ratio was 7.1% last year.
The reasons for this choice (on a scale of 1 to 10): the attention focused to animals (7.5), a better lifestyle (7.4), better health (7.3), ethical philosophical and environmental sensitivity (6.5).
The survey also allowed to know that 60% of Italians buy organic products regularly or occasionally; just over half (52%) recognized that these products are safer and that agricultural production is more attentive to the environment (59%), but the vast majority (70%) believe that organic food is too expensive.
