Collapse of the price of tomatoes
FJ
The lowest price of all times for tomatoes which recorded a drop of 80%!
In Kenya the price of tomatoes collapsed, recording within several weeks decline that reached to 80% in some regions. This price level is qualified as the lowest of all times.
In the capital, Nairobi, the bank of tomatoes of 64 kg passed from 51 U.S. $ in June to 19 U.S. $. In Mombasa, tourist city, the decline was less dramatic, rising from 57 U.S.$ to 29 U.S.$.
This is the first time that the price of tomatoes falls to such a low a level. Kenya is currently experiencing a dry season, normal, between his two rainy seasons (the great rainy season from April to June, a small in October-November). Prices should rise again with the beginning of the short rainy season.
