In 6 years Ghana has multiplied its banana exports to the EU by 10 and predicts more increases.
Ghana plans to further increase its banana exports to the EU.
Currently, Ghana exports more than 50,000 tons of bananas to the EU up from the export volume of 4,000 tons 6 years ago. The Commerce Department expects that exports will increase further.
The removal of tariffs in Europe and increased investment in Ghana has led to these optimistic forecasts. Increased growing areas will result in increased production and the goal is to reach 65,000 tons of bananas next year.
