The USDA (Department of Agriculture) has announced a ban on the sale of "junk food" in the 100,000 schools. The ban covers sports drinks high in calories, candy and sweets, sugary snacks. These new rules would extend beyond food, guidelines to limit the calories, sugar and salt during the school day.
These items will be replaced by dietary drinks, water bottles, cereal bars and other healthy products. These guidelines should be in place in all American schools from the 2014-2015 school year.
