The frying banana from the Cochabamba Tropics region (Bolivia) is celebrating the opening of the Peruvian market.
This achievement was possible thanks to the Banana and Plantain Production and Marketing Improvement Program, implemented by the National Fund for Integral Development (Fonadin), under the Ministry of Rural Development and Land.
According to Agustín Conde, president of the Cochabamba Agricultural Chamber, the Banana Program, although facing challenges, has begun to show positive results, driving innovation in production methods and opening up new opportunities for farmers.
The Cochabamba Tropic region is recognized as the main producer and exporter of bananas in Bolivia. International sales play a crucial role in supporting approximately 25,000 families in the Chapare area.
Conde also mentioned that producers from the Yungas region of La Paz are entering the export market with the support of Fonadin. Bananas for frying are now shipped to Mendoza and Salta in Argentina, as well as Buenos Aires.
