Uçak Kardesler: “Great facilities and 12-month avaibility are competitive strengths.”
Established in 1984, the Turkish Uçak Kardesler company is developing fast on international markets. This family-business company is one of the key growers and exporters in Turkey for tomatoes, lemons, grapes, citrus and other fruit & vegetables.
Met in Fruit attraction show in Madrid, Mr Aşkin Uçak, General Manager explains:
“Our company benefits from a great expertise in fruit & vegetable market, as it has been established by my father back in 1984. We operate thanks to 4 facilities in Turkey for packing and shipping produce. These are located in Izmir with a 28.000 m² facility for citrus packing, processing with cold storage and integrated atmosphere control system. In Mersin, we have an 18.000 m² processing plant. In Antalya, another 12.000m² facility, greenhouses and another facility of 10.000 m² for vegetables. In Manisa: 24.000 m² facilities for fruit & vegetable processing and cold storage.”
“On top of that, we have also offices in Istanbul and in Antalya markets. Our operations enable us to serve customers with all products from Turkey.”
“We can deal with a total volume of 200.000 tons when Russian market is open. Our main segments are grapes: 40.000 tons, tomatoes: 40.000 tons and 10.000 tons of pomegranates.”
Another competitive strength of the Turkish company is our ability to propose a large range of products and – most important – a 12 months avaibility for tomatoes, lemons and grapes.
Considering the commercial influence of the company, its main customers for export are in Poland, Russia, Germany, The Netherlands and in Italy.
Questioned on forecasts for next citrus season, Mr. Aşkin goes on:
“Next season looks good for us. Quality meets the international standards, volumes are good. We are expecting a good season overall.”
Mr. Aşkin Uçak points out:
“We are developing fast in Asia also with new customers in Hong-Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. This a part of the world with lots of opportunities for us.”
