Extension of the Russian embargo on Western agricultural products for a year.
The EU, on the 28th of June, extended the sanctions against Russia for six months until the 31st of January 2018, which has therefore extended the food embargo until 31st of December 2018.
In force since the 7th of August 2014, the embargo prohibits the import into Russia of agricultural products and foodstuffs from the European Union, the United States, Australia, Norway, Canada and some other countries (Albania, Montenegro, Iceland, Liechtenstein) in reaction to the sanctions of the West.
Initially adopted for a period of 1 year, the embargo was subsequently extended until the 5th of August 2016 and then until the end of 2017. Today, 6 months from its expiry, the embargo is extended by one year, until the 31st of December 2018.
