Red berries are the new champions of Moroccan exports.
Increasingly demanded on international markets, small red fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) record remarkable export performance. Encouraging producers to increase acreage and increase investment in this growing segment.
For IPBM (Interproberries Morocco), the inter-branch of the red berries sector, Moroccan production will continue to grow and export volumes will increase. According to IPBM data volumes totaled 103,004 tonnes exported to 41 countries.
The development of the red fruits sector in Morocco has been rapid. Crops started in the 1990s and now cover 7,106 hectares: strawberries (3,300), raspberries (1,900), blueberries (1890) and blackberries (16). Grown in greenhouses, Moroccan export fruits benefit from geographical proximity to European markets.
