Italian exports: decrease in volume but increase in value

During the first term of the year, Italian exports have recorded contrast trends:
a decrease in volume and an increase in value.
Fruitimprese has just released Italian import & export figures concerning 2011 first term.
Fruit and vegetables exports have decreased by 2.2% in volume, but in reverse increased by +7.9% in value, in comparison with the same period of 2010. During the term, Italia exported more than 1 million tons, representing a total value of 1 billion euros (approx.)
As for imports of Italian fruit & vegetables, volumes increased by +2.9% and value by +19.5%. Italia has imported nearly 860.000 tons, in increase in all sectors except for the vegetables: - 1.1% and exotic fruits: -3.5%
