In 2018 in Italy exports of 3 products generated a turnover of more than 1,300 million euros or 50% of the total turnover of fresh fruit exports. These are apples, pears and kiwis.
According to the ISMEA analysis, Italian apple exports have fluctuated in recent years between a peak of 1.13 million tonnes (2014/15 campaign) and a minimum of 773 000 tonnes ( 2017/18 campaign). In terms of revenue, ranging from 711.5 million (2018/19 campaign) to 865.6 million (2016/17 campaign). In the case of pears, exports ranged from 134 000 tonnes (2016/17 marketing year) to 165 000 tonnes (2017/18 marketing year), in terms of revenues, amounting to € 154.6 million (2014 / year campaign). 15) to EUR 189.6 million (2017/18 campaign).
Kiwifruit exports have fluctuated in recent years from a low of 286 000 tonnes (2017/18 season) to a high of 419 000 tonnes (2015/16 season). In terms of turnover, it ranges from 367.4 million EUR (2012/13 campaign) to 470.6 million EUR for the 2017/18 campaign.
Two thirds of Italian kiwifruit exports are destined for EU countries and one third for non-EU countries. Among the EU countries, Germany, Spain and France lead, while the United States and China stand out among the non-EU countries. During the last season, China recorded a 30% increase in imported kiwifruit volumes from Italy.
