Banana costs soar in Russia

According to the latest data, prices knock for bananas has been registered within fruits market of Russia this month. Based on the official data, prices for bananas have rallied up by 16% during this week only. At the current moment importers are ready to ship off this kind of fruits at approximately 0,96 – 1,03 USDkg. In comparison, previous week banana costs comprised 0,95 USDkg. Significant price knock could be traced to rapid devaluation of local currency versus USD. Prices growth could be also attributed to banana costs increase in Ecuador itself. According to local market specialists, current prices for bananas 2,5 times exceed previous year figures.
