The promotion is the best way to increase consumption of broccoli in Spain, where it is still very low.
Spain is the largest exporter of broccoli in the world but consumes very little.
The association wants to encourage more broccoli consumption in Spain with a target of 200 grams of broccoli consumed per capita per year. This goal is still far from consumption in the UK where people consume 4 kg.
A campaign
has just started in over 10,000 retail outlets, supermarkets and fruit and vegetable shops with tastings, recipes and cooking tips. Dubbed "in Peinsa ti", it puts broccoli in the spotlight throughout the country.
