MD
Grapes are the second most exported product after asparagus and exports are increasing.
The Banco Central de Reserva (BCR) estimates that export volumes will increase by 20% per year due to higher yields and also new plantations. The Department of Agriculture (MINAG) indicates that 4,500 hectares of grapes were planted in recent years, which should result in 45,000 tons of grapes for the export in the next 2 years.
In the period January-November 2011 Peru exported about 78,000 tons of grapes at $200 million. The main destinations are the United States (24%), the Netherlands (14%), Hong Kong (13%) and Russia (12%).
