Steady increase in the consumption of fruit

Fruit sales in Switzerland recorded a steady increase.
According to data from Federal Department of Economy, fruit sales continue to progress in retail trade.
In 2013 the sales reached 385,505 tons, better than 381,830 tons recorded in 2012 and better than 372,881 tons in 2011.
The third quarter, which includes the summer, is usually the quarter when the sales increase is the strongest. This was not checked for 2011, but for the following 2 years which recorded the most significant quantities of fruits sold. Sales growth in the third quarter was +8.0% in 2012 and +4.6% in 2013.
