Despite the health crisis which affected the volumes sold, Italian exports of fruit and vegetables recorded growth of 6.9% in value.
A recent study by Fruitimprese shows that in the first 2 months of 2020, there was a 6.9% growth in the value of exports despite a 2.8% drop in marketed volumes.
In January-February 2020, exports totaled 595,634 tonnes (612,632 tonnes in 2019) for a turnover of 859 million EUR (803.8 million in 2019). Or an increase of 6.9%. This increase in value results from the increases observed for vegetables and pulses (+ 14.2%), for citrus fruits (+ 10.3%), for dried fruits (+ 14.6%) and for tropical fruits ( + 31.8%).
For the same period, imports also increased, reaching 711.5 million EUR.
